At the Extraordinary Session of the Assembly of the African Union,

H.E. Ambassador Girma Asmerom
On12 October 2013, the Assembly of Heads of State and Government of the African Union held an Extraordinary Session in Addis Ababa, under the theme “Africa’s Relationship with the International Criminal Court (ICC).” During the Session, the Assembly also appointed a new Commissioner for Peace and Security of the AU Commission, as well as discussed and passed Decisions and Declarations concerning: 1. the tragic Boat Incident in Lampedusa, Italy, 2. the attack on the Westgate Shopping Mall in Nairobi, Kenya, 3. the kidnapping of the Prime Minister of Libya, and 4. the terrorist attack on a Market in Mogadishu, Somalia.
