Professor Alena Douhan on the Negative Impacts of Unilateral Coercive Measures

Professor Alena Douhan is the United Nations Special Rapporteur on the negative impact of unilateral coercive measures on the enjoyment of human rights. She is a professor of international law and a recognized expert on sanctions, human rights, and international legal frameworks. Appointed by the UN Human Rights Council in 2020, Professor Douhan has conducted country visits to several nations, including Iran, Cuba, Venezuela, and Zimbabwe; produced thematic reports; and developed tools to assess how unilateral coercive measures affect the humanitarian sector and ordinary people.
