Visiting the past to embrace the future

Citizens’ awareness of history has a paramount importance to the maintenance and enhancement of national identity. History enriches human experiences, improves the thinking capacity and also breeds new ideas that profoundly contribute to nation building. Understanding and remembering the past promotes collective memory, which should be communicated to present and future generations.The collective memory can be communicated through the performance of different activities and various channels. Visiting historical places is one way of activating national collective memory.
