Executive summary
In the academic year 2017/18, enrolment in elementary level increased by 0.8 percent, but the increase was shown in Zoba Gash Barka only. Enrolment in middle level increased by 10.3 percent and enrolment in secondary level decreased by 3.9 percent respectively as compared to previous academic year (2016/17). An increase in enrolment in middle level is observed in all Zobas and a decrease in enrolment in secondary level is observed in all Zobas except in Sawa.In the academic year of 2017/18, enrolment of girls in elementary and middle increased by 0.6 and 11.1 percent respectively; however, there was a decrease in secondary level by 3.4 percent.As compared to the academic year 2016/17, in the academic year 2017/18 national enrolment of girls and boys increased by 2.8 and 2.5 percent respectively.
